I am a single-teen-wonder-mom

For most of my life, I didn’t think that I would be a parent this early. I had lived my life to the fullest during my no-son-responsibility years. I was only seventeen when I found out that I am pregnant. My boyfriend and I didn’t know what to do. We were not married and we knew that we cannot not build a life as a family.

From the moment that my son was born, I told myself that whatever happens, I have to prioritize him. So now, I have to decide not only for myself but also for my son’s future. What I have decided before I became a mom doesn’t suit me now.

I am not perfect, I admit. I will make mistakes sooner or later.

Being a single mom like me, raising my kid is very challenging yet enjoyable. I have to work hard and at the same time study college because I am only nineteen. But working and studying don’t hinder me from effectively parenting Elijah. Being single doesn’t stop me to think that I can be a wonderful mom to my kid. Even though I am still dependent financially on my mom, this doesn’t mean that I cannot do it all by myself. But it is not always easy, I always end up crying and frustrated at times.

I have to decide what to change. What will benefit my son the most? I have to think about his future before thinking of myself. I know someday when these changes take their place no matter how hard the challenges are, I will say to myself that have achieved my goals for my son and myself. That these changes I set are all worth it.

Elijah is the best thing that has ever happened to my life.

Secondly, I became pregnant at the age of 19 but was able to give birth when I was 20. I also become a single mom for two years when my husband left me for another woman. Anyway, I admire you for your stand and I pray that you will get all your desires for your Baby Elijah.

Third, I am inviting you to join as at Pinay Mommies Community. Hope you can list your blog there and gain more Filipina Mommies and Wives friends in the blogosphere.

  3. Hi this is my first time to visit your blog. I think when it comes to single parenting/single mother you should be proud because I know it is difficult to raise a baby alone. Just continue studying until you can able to stand all by yourself. By the way what happen to your BF. You did not mention something about him. Safari Animals in EDSA
