Managing your Child with Down Syndrome

Down Syndrome also known as Trisomy 21 is the most common chromosomal abnormality in people. Children affected with this condition have special needs and require special parenting. Children with this condition develop many health problems and usually die once they reach the age of 35-45 years old. It is important to give your child with Down syndrome love and attention.

Know and respond to your child’s emotional cues as soon as possible. Find a good medical doctor to help give good health to your child. Children affected with down syndrome often develop many medical problems and need to be checked-up at least once in 2 months. Give your child natural foods to help your child stay healthy. Natural foods are much better compared to processed foods that are rich in sugar fat and slat which may cause health problems and conditions to your child at an early age.

It is also important to enjoy the company of your child. Always listen to them and talk to them as well. Encourage them and support them as they grow older. Children with Down syndrome are usually very affectionate and approachable especially when they are given the attention they need.
