Is it safe to wear underwired bras during pregnancy?

Most midwvives and medical professionals do not recommend wearing underwired bras during pregnancy. Underwired bras will only interfere to the natural changes in the size of your breast. Slight enlargement and tenderness will take place as early as six weeks. The skin and tissue around the breast will stretch to accommodate the extra weight. Without a correctly fitted bra, your breast will lose it’s shape and start to drop that might cause discomfort in your back and shoulders.

In choosing a maternity bra make sure that it has wide shoulder straps to give extra support, comfortable with soft and breathable fabric, with adjustable back fastening and support panels. There are also underwired maternity bras, they have softer wires to fit even if your breast is changing without digging in or leaving red marks on your skin.
