Should Your Toddler Be Using an iPad?

I just bought Elijah his own iPad 2 so he will stop disturbing me when I am working and he doesn’t have to borrow anymore. Many are saying that gadgets like iPad and iPod should not be given to toddlers because it will only raise the issue in language delays and social skills.

Should my toddler be using an iPad? My answer is YES. Elijah deserves to have his own iPad 2 because I know we spend more time talking and playing together. To make things clear, I only install educational apps. I can’t even use the iPad to play games because all I can see are puzzle games, alphabets and numbers.

I guess why some parents think that iPad will do no good for their kids is because they do not know that there are educational apps that really help a toddler to learn and they do not have enough time to spend exploring the iPad with their kids. If a toddler will use a gadget with no adult supervision at all then a big chance of not learning will takes place especially if there are games or apps installed that are intended for adults use only.

Maybe Elijah can’t speak fluently but as long as he can communicate very well, I know everything is fine. He is still the smartest and craziest kid for me.

If you think your kids deserve to have a tablet or cellphone and you trust them, then give it to them without thinking twice.

  1. I agree, nasa parenting yan. 😀 We don’t have an Ipad but we bought our toddler an android tablet and it’s filled with educational games. She used to play with iPhone all time. What they don’t realize is that the apps in these gadgets are really helpful. My favorites are the interactive e-books. Una loves The Beatles’ Yellow Submarine and Dr. Seuss e-books.
