I came from a broken family and gave birth at the age of nineteen but that doesn’t mean I was not raised well by my mom. It’s my own decision to have a child of my own at a very young age and I know exactly how hard it is to be a mother because I’ve seen all the hardship my mom went through. She never showed me that I was a disgrace to the family and supported me all the way. Even my relatives never let me feel that way. My siblings and I are very lucky to have our mom. She may look strict and bad but she can be the most crazy and outgoing mother you’ll ever know.

I wanted to be like her. She is a real public servant. She finds time for us despite of her busy schedule. She raised us and brought us to school without asking for anything in return. She just want us to be happy with our lives and always remember all the things she taught us. With all the heart aches and head aches that I gave to her, saying sorry won’t be enough. I will try to be the best mother to Elijah just like what she does to us.

I consider myself as super. Why? Because I can multitask. I can do things without asking for any help and feel superb. Maybe that’s not always the case because I am moody. There are times that when I see something not right and instead of correcting it, I end up getting mad. Yes. I get mad for no reason and I am trying to work this out for years. Seeing myself in a positive way, I know everything will fall into places if I wake up in the right side of the bed. I can cook while taking care of Elijah while washing the dishes and many more. I managed to master all the things I need to learn as a mother right after Elijah was born. I was lazy and my family can’t depend on me about almost anything before I got pregnant. I curse people without thinking what will be it’s effect on our relationship. I don’t think that much. I am not even aware on how to use a stainless steel u bolts.

Every super hero has their own weakness. I, as a super hero of my own life has weakness and it’s not simple. Dealing with myself is as hard as counting my hair. I always wanted perfection. Everything around me should go as I expected. I am aware with my bad attitude and as I feel bad, I pray. I need guidance from above to keep me cool. If I am not going to fix my attitude, who will? No one will ever love me back even Elijah might turn his back on me. I can predict my future if I don’t change. I guess two years is not yet enough because I see only small progress in me but at least I am trying and they can feel it. What bothers me is what if I am the only one who can see my own effort? I will surely try to bring my old evil self and think that nobody ever cares.

I am super because I am able to talk to myself and trying to bring the best in me. It may sound weird but haven’t you tried talking to yourself yet? If I have no one to talk with, I talk to myself and evaluate things.

I used to go to town and pay bills every 1st week and third week of the month. It’s time consuming that is why I make sure to finish all my task before it’s deadline so even if heavy traffic comes up, I have nothing to worry about. I already experience running out of time and I don’t want this to happen again. We are two days late on the given deadline for our internet bill and things went wrong. Good thing we managed pay our bill five minutes before their office closing time. After that incident, I promised to pay early to avoid any inconvenience.

We are now using electronic payments in paying internet and telephone bills since other expenses should be paid via bank deposit and through the home owners association of our subdivision. I hope everything can be paid online so there is no need to go outside and fall in a very long line.

It’s been a year already when Elijah had gastroenteritis or stomach flu. We rushed him to the hospital because of non-stop vomiting and diarrhea and we were told to stay in the hospital.

I was the only young mom there and everyone was looking at me as if I committed a crime. This is the first time we bring Elijah in the hospital and hoping that it will also be the last. Upon our four days stay in the hospital, his dextrose was transferred many times into his hands and feet because they let student nurses to take in charge, knowing that they knew nothing about it and still need the guidance of a licensed nurse, they let them experiment on my son’s body and left us with no choice. I wanted to pull him out of that hospital but we don’t have enough money to bring him in a private hospital so we stayed, hearing Elijah cry breaks my heart and until now, whenever I remember that event, I can’t help but cry.

It was the darkest days of my motherhood. We went home and Elijah was not feeling well yet. The vomiting and diarrhea only stopped when he received a massage therapy from Aling Nene ( family friend).

We tried to give him all his favorite food and he never refused. He didn’t like the pedialyte, the doctor prescribed him to drink for re hydration. I was also suffering from diarrhea that time but never tried to consult a doctor because I know it will only add to our hospital bill. I know I was his only strength at that time and I don’t want my sickness to be a hindrance in attending his needs.

When I was in college, collecting slippers is on my favorite thing to do. I make it to a point that when my sister or mom gave me an allowance, I’ll buy myself a slipper. I don’t wear shoes to keep my feet comfortable when walking and it is much expensive than a slipper. During the time when I was pregnant with Elijah and until now that he is already two years old, I never have the chance to buy a pair slipper for myself because I told myself that my sisters will let me borrow theirs so I use my money to buy what my son needs.

It was Lloyd who bought me a pair of slipper and sneakers. They are the most expensive foot wear I have. A gorgeous shoes can’t get my attention if it’s very pricey. I always go for cheap ones.

My dad will probably like Marc Joseph. Their designs are what my dad is looking for. It’s pricey but since it’s for my dad, I’ll buy him when I have enough money already. Elijah’s shoes are quite expensive too maybe because it’s very hard to make small shoes so I don’t buy him any. It’s his grandparents who loves to buy him foot wear.

After a month and 18 days, Elijah is now officially weaned on the 25th. I started taking slimming pills last week so Elijah didn’t have the chance to get any milk from me. I make sure that his tummy is full every minute and when he asks for something, I give it right away. I also stay up late in the living room, leaving LLoyd and Elijah in our room. I will go up when he is already asleep. It’s really hard at first because he keeps on asking about me but I have to be firm. He is into chocolate drinks and he can have it as long as he wants.

He is also drinking vitamins now, eating a lot like an adult and getting super active when he is full. His breath doesn’t smell milk anymore. He’s a big boy now.

I got stretch marks around my tummy when I was pregnant. They told me not to scratch when it’s itchy because it will result to stretch marks but I can’t help it. It’s alright to have it in my tummy since I am not wearing swimsuits. I am proud to have tiger stripes on my tummy because it only proves that I was able to nurture a child inside me. Not everyone can have the chance to be pregnant and stretchmarks serve as our trophy. How cool is that?

I take Depo Provera(DMPA) a month before Elijah turned one and still using it until now because I am not religious when it comes to taking of pills. I might forget about taking pills everyday so DMPA works best for me. Since then, I always gain weight from 3-4 kilos every three months. I was 55 kilos last November 2011 and will check my new weight next month. I wonder how much kilo do I gain after celebrating holiday. I am getting bigger each day and tiger stripes are getting visible in my legs, I can’t even wear shorts.

This weight gain happened because I let it. I eat a lot and never thought of getting this big so I have to pay for it. If I want to use skirts or shorts, maybe wearing boots can hide the stretchmarks. I’ll borrow my sister’s cowgirl boots the next time I am going to town.

I started taking slimming pills yesterday and feeling no bad effects yet. I know it’s bad for lactating mothers but Elijah is not asking for milk since Tuesday. He makes eating a hobby and taking vitamins now. Hooray for Elijah! He can sleep now on his own since he doesn’t want me to tap him to make him sleep. Chocolate drink is his new best friend now. He is not drinking any aside from choco drink and water. With the frozen cabbage, I am afraid that Elijah will soon ask for my milk again so I decided to Google a home remedy to decrease my milk supply. I found out that frozen cabbage works effectively to most of the moms who shared their stories. I don’t want to visit a doctor and get some prescription on drugs that can stop my milk supply. I will do it the cheapest way and it is putting frozen cabbage in my boobies. I have to change it every two hours according to those who have tried. It hurts for a minute since it’s very cold. They say the boobies will not produce milk after a week.

Your child brings a lot of love into your life. They also bring a lot of paperwork. Keeping important documents on hand and up to date can be overwhelming for busy parents. It becomes even more stressful if you are unable to easily access essential information when it is required. If your child has special medical needs, disorganization may even prove dangerous. Following are five simple ways to organize your child’s important documents in just a few minutes every evening.

1. Get Paperwork From Your Child Immediately After School

A lot of important paperwork is sent home with your child. These documents include notices regarding school policies, upcoming events, items your child requires, and evaluations of their performance. Children are not the best record keepers, and it is important for you to take possession of these documents as soon as possible so that you can file the information appropriately.

2. Create a Dedicated Area For Your Child’s Documents

This can be as elaborate or simple as you desire and your home can accommodate. At minimum this area should contain a filing system for records that need to be kept on hand as well as a board where time sensitive documents will remain visible. If you are especially short on space and do not need to keep the original document, you can scan it into your computer. A calendar dedicated to your child’s medical appointments, school activities, and after school activities completes your system.

3. A Place For Everything

Now that you have an area dedicated to your child’s documentation, establish separate categories for the types of paperwork your child produces. Common categories include school records, medical records, and after-school activities. Within each category, create subcategories so that each document will be easily identified and produced as needed.

A bulletin or magnetic board is a convenient way to prominently display time-sensitive items such as permission slips and birthday party invitations. Mark these dates on your calendar, along with medical appointments, so you are able to prepare for these events in advance.

4. Everything In Its Place

All of your hard work is meaningless if you don’t put it to work for you. Make sure to set aside a few minutes each evening to file all of the day’s paperwork into its appropriate location. It may be tempting to set it all aside until the weekend, but you will find yourself overwhelmed when the weekend comes. In addition, many notices come at the last minute. If you set them aside, the weekend may come too late to take action.

5. Periodically Purge Your Files

Once you have used your filing system for a while, you may notice that certain files begin to overflow. Instead of giving up because you can no longer jam more documents into the correct file, take the time to remove old paperwork from the “active” file. Depending on the document, it may be appropriate to throw it away. For example, school policies for kindergartners are no longer helpful when your child is in second grade. Some records are important, but not likely to be required on a moment’s notice. These may be moved to an “inactive” file and stored with other family documents.

Taming the flow of your child’s important paperwork is easier than you think. Following these five simple tips will help you keep your child’s documentation up to date, and you can use your weekends to relax!
