Smart Self-serviceable Appliances

pinaymama · August 15, 2012 · Leave a Comment

After getting home late from work, you’ll want to head straight to the kitchen to cook something quick, but find that you don’t know what to do with the few items of food you have lying in your fridge. If you find yourself in this situation, you might be tempted to just ring the nearest takeaway and order a pizza. While you might have food in your Fridge Freezer from appliancesdirect.co.uk, it might not be sufficient to rustle up a tasty meal in a matter of minutes. Fortunately, this scenario could soon be a thing of the past.

A new breed of smart appliances could help users find recipes by scanning ingredients using a touch screen, learn about whether they’re running low on milk, cheese or other items of food in their fridge freezer or help them to compose shopping lists. According to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), this technology is set to become reality very soon, and that’s not the only development that will contribute towards the constant evolution of the modern kitchen.

Something else that may end up being commonplace in the kitchen of the future is that more appliances will be self-serviceable. This will make home life even easier than it is now, while fixing them won’t be too much of a problem. Also, you might see plates being recycled rather than cleaned in a box that lies next to the sink, which might sound strange, but it could happen sometime in the next century. The MIT suggested this could happen because, at the moment, kitchens are seen as being messy, unsafe and hard to maintain, while cooking is hard to do because many people are pressed for time to prepare something.

Internet connectivity is something else that you might expect to come with most smart, energy efficient appliances in the near future. Having an internet connection to your fridge freezer might mean you’re able to make video calls to a loved one who’s at the other side of the world, buy groceries online or even watch TV while you’re cooking. You might also expect to see smart kitchen utensils that tell you if the food you’re cooking is too hot or cold, which sounds pretty handy.

Kitchens are perhaps the most important room in most homes, as it’s where you clean clothes, store food, cook and clean dishes. Without having the means to do any of those tasks, life will be almost unbearably difficult. Fortunately, the fact that smart appliances are available to buy for reasonable prices means that it’s possible to get all of that done with time to spare, even if you’re forced to come home late from work for whatever reason you may have.
