Mesothelioma During Pregnancy

Mesothelioma is a form of cancer and asbestos-related disease that affects the protective lining of the lungs and abdomen. Doctors find it hard to diagnose a mesothelioma because it’s signs and symptoms are very much the same with other common ailments and it’s already in the advanced stages when diagnosed. This disease is more prevalent in men over the age of 65 than children and women who will have this cancer possibly due to secondary exposure to asbestos.

Developing mesothelioma during pregnancy can cause no harm to the baby. There is no chance that the asbestos will affect the baby since it is not genetically transmitted. Chest pain, abdominal pain, swelling, anemia, and fever are some of the symptoms that often mistaken as pneumonia which results in slow detection of cancer.
