Nursing mothers can continue breastfeeding even if she is sick. Your body is making antibodies to help fight the illness and those antibodies are passed to your baby through breastfeeding.
It is said that taking medication is what nursing mothers biggest concern. Do the water therapy, if this doesn’t work then go to the nearest health care provider and discuss what you are feeling so they can give you the right medication. Never take any medicine without the doctor’s go signal.
There are some cases when nursing mothers are advised to stop breastfeeding. It is only when they have HIV and other serious illness. Having flu, cold, fever, gastroenteritis or sore throat doesn’t mean you have to stop nursing. To prevent your baby from getting sick, avoid sneezing and coughing near him/her and make sure you hands and surroundings are always clean.
