The breastfeeding frequency changes as your baby grows old. Breast milk is easier to digest than formula milk that is why the number of times a baby drinking formula milk is different from an exclusively breastfeed baby. Babies differ from one another. Some are breastfeeding every hour while others are every two to fours hours. A baby should be breastfeed about 8 to 12 times a day during their first month.
I am a first time mom and I also don’t know when was the right time to breastfeed Elijah but I figured it out all by myself without asking. There are feeding cues that helped me to determine if he’s hungry. Our first month is full of experimentation from breastfeeding to giving him a sponge bath. As much as possible I don’t wan’t to establish a schedule for feeding him and sleep patterns since both of us are still adjusting.
Never restrict breastfeeding. If babies feel like nursing then give them what they want. These are the days when they nurse frequently.
