Elijah’s Moving Up Day

It was a special day for our family. Our little boy finally made it to his graduation day. How time flies. He knows so much that sometimes I cannot keep up.

I did not cry during his graduation day. I cried during the days he was practicing their graduation song. Very emotional, I know. But who cares?

Elijah attended their practice without being naughty. He did everything his teachers told him to do. There was this one time that he went up to the stage twice because he heard “Elijah.” There is a boy in the first session named Jared Elijah, and my baby thought the name “Elijah” was exclusively his. So Elijah went up to the stage twice because he heard his name twice!

The next day, the boy beside him did not want to stand still and kept walking around. The teacher’s aide did not know their positions, so she switched the kids, making Elijah the first to go up to the stage in the second line. Elijah, who was being attentive, walked to the stage because he knew it was his turn.

The parents laughed at my son again. They said, “He was the kid who went on stage even when it wasn’t his turn”. Poor kid. The parents were laughing, and I was like, “What is wrong with you people?!” Of course, I had to be the protective mom who didn’t want anyone laughing at her kid, but I had to calm myself down because it wasn’t the right time to make a scene.

Elijah received the Best in Numeracy, Best in Literacy, and Best in Spelling awards. He may not be the most outstanding kid in his section, but in our hearts, he will always be number one.

He could not have received the Most Outstanding award because we enrolled him two months late, causing him to miss the first exam, assignments, and projects during that period. There is so much to brag about, but I prefer to keep my lips sealed.

He did not receive a medal because the government did not have the budget for it. Great.
