Basic Newborn Needs Checklist

pinaymama · January 31, 2011 · 6 Comments

Having  a baby  is very much exciting than opening gifts during Christmas eves. you need to have at least a checklist for buying your baby’s basic needs. Below are some of the baby items needed for the first week.

  • newborn disposable diapers
  • cloth diapers
  • baby bath soap
  • blankets
  • mittens
  • booties
  • sweaters
  • caps
  • baby oil
  • towels
  • bath tub
  • sleepers
  • bodysuits
  • cotton
  • baby wipes
  • side-snap tees
  • 70% alcohol
  • cotton buds

Feeding bottles and anything that goes with it are not listed because as of this moment, I am an advocate of breastfeeding. It is much economical and healthy for both mama and baby to breastfeed than use a formula milk.

Kudos to you for wanting to breastfeed your baby. I am planning to exclusively breastfeed my baby as soon as I give birth too. 😀

You need slippers for your baby during the first week??? 😀 How about snaps or safety pins for the cloth diapers? With alcohol, use ethyl instead of isopropyl as the former does not dry the skin. It’s also what’s used to clean the navel.

very much agree, breast-feeding way way better than bottle-feeding, though you will still need to teach the baby to drink in bottle in case you are going somewhere or have him/her drink water..

I’ll need this list when I give birth soon. I’ve made one but it isn’t complete yet 🙂
