Postpartum Hair Loss

pinaymama · March 1, 2012 · 9 Comments

Losing 40-120 strands of hair a day is common and will be replaced by new hairs in the same follicle. If you are losing more than that then maybe it’s time to consult a doctor because something might be wrong.

12 weeks after giving birth, women are losing hair of about 400 strands a day but there is nothing to worry about since it’s normal. Rest assured that once you baby turns 1, postpartum hair loss will stop and our hair will go back to normal but the texture won’t be the same anymore.

You can’t stop your hair from falling out but you can help control the shed by taking prenatal vitamins continuously. Avoid using thick creams that may block the pores and use mild shampoos only. If possible, do not use any chemical or treatment on your hair until the shedding stops.

    400+ strands a day? that’s a lot!

don’t scrub ur shampoo on ur scalp too much, what i do is dilute the shampoo on water and just let it pass on my scalp and hair then rinse na…same with conditioner…
