Elijah’s Moving Up Day

It was a special day for our family. Our little boy finally made it to his graduation day. How time flies. He knows so much that sometimes I cannot keep up.

I didn’t cry during his graduation day. I cried during the days he was practicing their graduation song. Very emotional, I know. But who cares?

Elijah attended their practice without being naughty. He did everything his teachers were saying. There was this one time that he went to the stage twice because he heard “Elijah”. There is a boy in the first session named Jared Elijah and my baby didn’t know that the name “Elijah” is not exclusively for him. Elijah had to go to the stage twice because he heard his name twice! Then on the next day, the boy beside him didn’t want to stand still and kept on walking. The teacher aide didn’t know their position so she switched the kids making Elijah first to go up in the stage in the second line. Elijah who was being attentive, walked to the stage because he knew it was his turn. The parents once again laugh at my son, they were even talking about him saying “He was also the kid who goes up the stage even if it is not his turn.” O poor kid. The parents were laughing and I was like “what is wrong with you people?!”. Of course I have to be the protective-mom-not-wanting-anyone-to-laugh-at-my-kid-ever but I have to calm myself as it is not the right time to fight.

Elijah got the Best in Numeracy, Best in Literacy, and Best in Spelling award. He may not be the most outstanding kid in their section but in our heart, he is always the number 1. There is no way he can get the most outstanding award because we enrolled him two months late so he missed their first exam, assignments and projects that took place during the first two months of school. There is too much to brag but I prefer to seal my lips. He got no medal because the government do not have a budget for it. Great.

This is US. The proud parents with the graduate.
