My Most Memorable Moment As A Mother

Every single second with my son Elijah is memorable to me. He made me realize how wonderful life is. For those who are not reading my blog, I got Elijah when I was in my second year college. I thought God was punishing me for too much night partying that I have. I didn’t know what to do then. I can’t think properly. I can’t even tell my mom that I am pregnant.

After seeing Elijah for the very first time, everything changed. I WAS WRONG. God was not punishing me. He just gave me the biggest blessing I never imagined to have.

My Baguio Centennial Boy is now 1 year and 8 months.

Elijah knows everyone in our house. He can recognize their voice, face and body built but not me. He just smile and say hi to me as if I’m a stranger to him. He can say everything but not Mama. It hurts a lot since I am the one who breastfeed him and we are together 24 hours a day. He learns very fast but he can’t say Mama. But last May 16, 2011, the boy who will conquer every milk in the world called me MAMA. I felt like crying because after how many months he knows I am not Tita Aija, Dede Man or Ayie anymore. I am now his MAMA. He calls me Mama whenever he wakes up every morning and before we sleep at night.

My most memorable moment as Elijah’s mum is when he called me Mama.

  10. Can relate with you darling, cos my mom also got pregnant at a young age. I always looked up to my mom because of all the sacrifices she made just to raise me up. I’m sure your son will adore you as well. 🙂

  11. Your baby did not need to name you – you were his world. It took him longer to recognise that you were separate from him than the other people. Also ‘M’ is not an easy sound for a baby to make – my own baby managed ‘d’ long before ‘m’ – so ‘dada’ came before ‘mama’ (but, to be honest, her first word was ‘doggy’!)

  12. Congratulations to your pioneering son.. I am indeed flattered when I saw this blog and I did realize that being a mother(I’m not a girl) is the most precious job of all because you cannot even retire on that job and mothers should be taken care…. Good luck po sa inyong baby.

  13. wow your story amazed me! although i’m not yet a mother, but somehow i know how you really felt that time … the time when you got pregant, the time you born your baby, and the time he called you mama …i’m so happy for you!!! just always be a good mom to your son and everything will go fine … God bless you and your family!

  15. Congratulations pibyang. I can imagine how happy you were when your son first called you MAMA. it is something that you had been waiting for long time, with hurtful feelings, but in the end you got what you had hoped for. I will respect my mom now as I know she also felt the same way as you did when I first called her MAMA.

  16. awesome i mean getting pregnant during college days is like a burden but what you have considered like enjoying the activities of your baby and bringing him up is really cool.

  17. really , your post is very nice and the child in the photo is impressive and so cute and i think Elijah hda some meaning his birth , its a great blessing for you from god , and cute things happen like this when you become a mother of a cute child like Elijah..May god bless you and your family..

  18. Awwww.. What a sweet story. A baby is never a curse, it’s a blessing for mothers even if it came at the wrong time. It’s good to know that the child was accepted and it should always be. Godbless you and your family. By the way, you’re cute.

  19. So you got Elijah unexpectedly in a seemingly inappropriate time! God indeed had a good purpose why He allowed Elijah to come into your life. No matter what, a child is always a mother’s joy. The moment a mother delivered and saw the infant, all the pains she went through are completely wiped out as she sees the angelic face of her newborn. How much more joy comes when a child learns to speak and starts uttering the word, Mama. I know the kind of joy you are having for I also am a mother. Only a mother fully understands the joy of motherhood. Your son Elijah is blessed to have a mother like you and you are also blessed to have a little angel in him. God bless you both!

  20. Wow, first of all congratulations. Really this is one of the moment for every mother is waiting for, to hear that precious words from their child. I know how much happy you felt when he called you “Mama”, the best word any mother would like. And it is the dream of every women to become a mother. Once again my hearty congratulations.

  21. As a mom myself I feel what you feel. The joy of holding your child in your arms and looking into his eyes as you cuddled him is indescribable. Your brave in spite of your fears you keep your baby.

  22. Congratulations on little Elijah. I’m sure he will be a bundle of joy in your home and a ray of sunshine in your life. He will hold your hand in Happiness and Joy and sadness and grief.

  23. Its just amazing how much joy babies bring into our lives. They make us realize how caring, loving and patient we are. Its an experience for you and your baby to grow and share together.

  24. What a great memorable moment! MAMA is definitely the most powerful word a child can say to their mother! It makes everything worth it! Keep up the good work.

  25. Biggest happiness in the life of a lady to be a mother and you had achieved that so be happy.
Make your child deliver you ur motherhood

  26. Yes, motherhood is such a joyous feeling that any woman would just forget what she went through to bring the baby into this world. No one can just deny the fact that its a thrilling and memorable moment in life when your baby calls you mom; its truly a gift to become mother and have a little baby in your arms.

  27. Having a Baby is such a wonderful gift from God,
whether we created it at a wrong time We are no reason that this is a punishment, instead we use it for our future achievement because their is a baby to live for,
    thats right, cheer up…
Be happy for being a mother..

  28. Apart from changing nappies, irregular sleep, finding difficulty to allocate time to do other works, being a mother for a cute little one, really a wonderful experience. You can’t compare anything with a mother’s love.My wishes to you & the cute little Elijah.

  29. I was also a young mom . I now have two. But with my first she always seems to love her daddy more than me.. I then realized that I am also with her all the time she is use to me… her daddy goes to work and comes home and its like exciting to her because he just plays with her. I am happy that he said mamma and it eased your mind but just remember he will be the only person that will love you no matter what for the rest of your life. He may get mad at you at times but there will always be that unconditional love that only a child and mother can have!
