Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV)

OPV vaccine is also known as Sabin vaccine or Trivalent Oral Polio vaccine. It is given orally to protect your child against the three types of virus that cause polio. Polio is said to be highly contagious.

This vaccine is given to babies in a series of four shots, at birth,  6 weeks, 10 weeks and 14 weeks. There must be at least four weeks interval between doses 1,2 and 3. Each dose has to be 2 drops. OPV is safe, inexpensive and effective vaccine that has no side-effects. It induces a long lasting immunity to the three types of poliovirus. It is said that when you came in contact to the person who is already immunized, you will become immune too.
